James ‘Jim’ Welch

James “Jim” Wesley Welch, 82, of Bryan, Texas, formerly of Bowling Green, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at Legacy Nursing Center and Rehabilitation in Bryan.

He was born Jan. 29, 1937 in Eolia, the son of the late William Wesley and Rena Adkins Welch.

Jim was the owner of Jim Welch Electric in Bowling Green and a re-tired farmer. He was the lead singer for Jim Welch & The Good Times Band that traveled throughout the Eastern Missouri area playing music for many years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, W.W. and Rena Adkins Welch, his step-mother, Mary Tinsley Welch, two brothers, Alvin Welch and Lee Welch and a nephew, Marty Butters.

Survivors include three children, Tim Welch and wife Arlene of Arkadelphia, Ark., Stacy Westlake and Tracy Welch, both of Bryan, Texas; three grandchildren, Dusty Welch and wife, Jordan of Bryant, Ark., Chelsea Oliver and husband, Zach of Hensley, Ark., and Zach Westlake of Rockport, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Davis Michael Welch of Bryant, Ark.

Memorials may be made to your local humane society.

Private family services are planned.

Final arrangements are entrusted to The Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
