Sherry Jean Schamma Allison

Sherry Jean Schamma Allison, 65, of Mexico, formerly of Vandalia died Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be Friday at 7 p.m., at Waters Funeral Home. Interment of her cremains will take place at a later date in the New Harmony Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m., at Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia.

She was born Sept. 9, 1951 in Vandalia, the daughter of Melvin Kelly and Delores Jean Goodhart Schamma. She married Charles Henry Picton. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons: Timothy E. Picton, Charles F. Picton, both of Mexico, and Luke K. Picton of Columbia; two brothers, Butch Schamma of Virginia, Ill., and Danny Schamma of New York; two sisters, Sue Clough of Mexico and Judy Clough of Strafford; eight grandchildren, Zach Picton, Mike Picton, Rodney Picton, Taylor Picton, Dustin Picton, Kristin Picton-Rivera, Tevin Picton and Stormy Picton; nine great-grandchildren, Natalie Picton, Keira Picton, Ahlana Picton, Zane Picton, Macy Picton, Brooke Picton, Sophia Rivera, Chloe Rivera and Victoria Rivera.

He was preceded in death by: parents; and one brother, Roger Schamma.

She was a Vandalia resident growing up and a 1969 Van-Far High School graduate. She entered the nursing field and worked at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mexico for many years. Sherry enjoyed Elvis music and his collectibles, going to Branson, country music shows and had played in a bowling league.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.

Memorials are encouraged to Breast Cancer research of the American Cancer Society.
