Robert W. (Bob) Dixon, 59, of Bowling Green died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 at the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday (today) at Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with Rev. Don Amelung officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1950 in Louisiana, the son of Joe O. and Mary Agnes Oberdahlhoff Dixon. He was married to Melba Thurman and later in April 1976 married Diane Heffner.
Survivors include one son, Travis Dixon of Columbia; a daughter, Melissa Pitzer of Bowling Green; one brother, Don Dixon and wife, Patti of Quincy, Ill.; a sister, Peggy Jo Perkins and husband, Mike of Curryville; one grandson, Amos Pitzer of Bowling Green; four nieces, Jolynn Houchins, Kolby Rife, Kallie Dixon and Caelyn Perkins and one nephew, Kyle Dixon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy, Kenneth Dixon.
Bob lived in the Bowling Green area all of his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Bowling Green High School and then attended Quincy Technical School. He owned and operated Bob’s Barn Auction Service in Bowling Green for 20 years. He also owned and operated Bob Dixon Carpet Cleaning for several years and all the while you would see Bob mowing all over town. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, collecting guns and telling major stories.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Hart, Ed Heffner, Roy St. Clair, Bill Unsell, Larry Niemeyer and Amos Pitzer. Honorary pallbearers will be Denis Niemeyer, Gordon Shepherd, Gale Osbourne, Jack Reid and Dale Riffle.
