Larry F. Niemeyer, 65, of Perry, formerly of Bowling Green lost his long, hard fought battle to cancer on Thursday, March 13, 2014.
Internment will be at 10 a.m., at St. Clement Catholic Cemetery. Immediately following the burial there will be a dinner for those in attendance. A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Clement.
Larry was born April 19, 1948 in Louisiana to Harry and Viola Geujen Niemeyer. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1971. He was a butcher at Don’s IGA in Bowling Green for more than 20 years. Larry also worked at the Missouri Department of Corrections in Bowling Green and Vandalia from which he retired in 2009. He was able to pursue his dream and opened Big Larry’s Campground in Perry. He truly enjoyed running the campgrounds and making his campers feel like family. Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, his family and friends.
Survivors include two brothers, Leroy Niemeyer of Columbia and Ralph Niemeyer and wife, Markie of Bowling Green; son, Larry Niemeyer II of Paris, Missouri; daughter, Lisa Wise and husband, Mark of Curryville, Missouri and his beloved granddaughter, Meridyth Wise. Other survivors include nephews, a niece and great nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Clement Catholic Church, St. Clement Catholic Cemetery or St. Clement Catholic School.
