Phyllis Elnora Thompson

Phyllis Elnora Thompson, 93, of Hannibal died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Saturday at Curryville Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Ford officiating. Burial was in Curryville Cemetery.

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Friday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

Phyllis was born Sept. 27, 1924 in Rocky Ford, Colo., the daughter of Ralph Raymond and Blanche Edna Holman Dillard. She married Omar P. Thompson April 27, 1944 in Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include three children, Donna Rae Ford and husband, Gary of New London, Linda Jo Gould and husband, Forrie of New London and Lyndel Thompson and wife, Laura of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, Kevin Ford and wife, Mary, Kyle Ford and wife, Michelle, Chad Ford and wife, Leigh Anne, Bethany McMillen and husband, Brian, Krista Porter and husband, Scott, Leslie Sheffield and husband, Aaron, and Levi Thompson and wife, Kara; 18 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Dillard Jr. and wife, Sue of Curryville; one sister, Lenora Wright of Raytown; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother-in-law, Gilbert Wright.

Phyllis spent most of her life around Curryville and spent the last few years in Saverton. She was a long-time member of Curryville Baptist Church and currently a member of the New London First Baptist Church.

She served as a Sunday school teacher, church secretary, 4-H leader for cooking, enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union. She worked as a seamstress in the Vandalia, Frankford and Elsberry garment factories.

Pallbearers were Levi Thompson, Aaron Sheffield, Kyle Ford, Chad Ford, Scott Porter and Brian McMillen. Honorary pallbearers were Nate McMillen, Nick McMillen, Gavin Ford, Ethan Ford and Owen Thompson.

Memorials may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home in Bridgeton.
