Ruth Deters, 83, of St. Clement died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m., Friday at St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Peckman and Fr. Ed Doyle officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
She was born Feb. 13, 1926 in St. Clement, the daughter of Henry J. and Adela C. Orf Wendel. She married Edwin Deters Aug. 28, 1946 at St. Clement Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Nov.11, 2005.
Survivors include two sons, James Deters and wife, Karen of Bowling Green, Edward Deters and wife, Lisa of O’Fallon; three daughters, Linda Whiteside and husband, Leslie of Elsberry, Kathy Brown and husband, Robert of Centralia, Fran Boyd of Bowling Green; 20 grandchildren, Bill Deters, Patrick Deters and wife, Catherine, Maryne McManness and husband, Dale, Bethany Schnitzer and husband, Brad, Melissa Whitehead and husband, Adam, Michael Deters and wife, Jessica, Brad Deters and wife, Nikki, Jessica Bruegemann and husband, Michael, Scott Deters, Lance Deters, Jenifer Stevens, Kristin Curpas and husband, Alex, Brian Brown and wife, Erin, Kimberly Brown, Katie Boyd, Blake Deters, Derek Deters, Brenley Deters, Drew Deters and Brendan Deters; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wilmer Wendel and wife, Maggie of Sydney, Australia; two sisters, Mary Lamke and husband, Norbert of Union, Dolores Tinsley of Cyrene; one brother-in-law, Richard Deters of Columbia, one sister-in-law, Sr. Mary Mark Deters of Oldenburg, Ind; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Frances Wendel.
Mrs. Deters was a life-long resident of St. Clement and was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality. She had also been a member of Town and Country Twirlers Square Dance Club, Friend and Neighbors Extension Club and had been a 4-H leader.
Serving as pallbearers were Bill Deters, Pat Deters, Brian Brown, Michael Deters, Brad Deters and Blake Deters.
Memorials may be made to Pike County Hospice, St. Clement Cemetery Association or to the donor’s choice.
