Despite an unfortunate automobile accident on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 3, Hannibal Regional Hospital Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Services and Hannibal Regional Medical Group Allergy/ Immunology Services, located at 710 Business Highway, 61 South in Bowling Green, continue to remain open for business.
According to Troop C of the Missouri State Highway Patrol a one-vehicle accident occurred at 7:20 p.m.
The accident occurred when Kelly L. Carroll, 30, of Bowling Green was traveling northbound on Bus. Hwy. 61 when the vehicle traveled off the left side of roadway. Carroll pushed on the accelerator instead of the brakes and struck the Hannibal Regional Hospital Physical Therapy building.
Carroll and a passenger, Kortney Renfro, 4, Bowling Green were taken to Pike County Memorial Hospital by private conveyance. Another passenger, Whitley Renfro, 7, of Bowling Green sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Pike County Memorial Hospital by Pike County Ambulance.
While there was significant damage to the masonry, the building has been inspected and determined to be structurally sound.
The building is owned by Hannibal Regional Healthcare System and the main floor has been leased to a local tenant. Hannibal Regional Hospital and Hannibal Regional Medical Group services, subsidiaries of Hannibal Regional Healthcare System, are located on the ground level, where the accident occurred. Upon learning of the event, system facility professionals arrived upon the scene to ensure proper assistance was provided to those injured in the accident and make arrangements to secure the building. Services provided to patients have continued uninterrupted.
