Jackie Joe Carr

Jackie Joe Carr, 87, of Bowling Green went to be with his Savior Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday at Bibb-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green. Burial will be in Fairview Grassy Creek Cemetery in Louisiana with military rites being conducted by VFW #5553 and the MO Military Honors.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m., Saturday.

Jackie was born Aug. 18, 1931 in Frankford. He was the son of Joseph Webster and Ruby Beulah Walker Carr. On May 28, 1955 in Hannibal he married Sue Laverne Daniel. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Edward Carr of Clarksville; three daughters, Belinda Carr of Bowling Green, Kathy Capps and husband, Mike of Eolia, and Stacey Stoops and husband, Ronnie of Troy; 13 grandchildren; 24 greatt-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Carr; grandson, B.J. Carr; brother, Virgil Carr; and sisters Ruby Keller, Lois Starman, and Karen Smith.

Jackie grew up in Frankford and lived most of his life in Pike County. He was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church and recently attended Second Baptist Church in Bowling Green. He served in the United States Army and was sent over seas to Austria. Jackie loved to listen and talk to people, never knew a stranger and loved the Diner.

He enjoyed a competitive card game of spades, watching the Cardinal baseball team play, working in the garden, and most of all he loved his family and his grandkids.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Aaron Carr, Jason Capps, Wesley Elam, Nicholas Jones, Joey Tabor, and Kyle Stoops. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Capps, Ronnie Stoops, Jake Carr, Steven Love, Carl Brown, Chris Zumwalt, and Kyle Brannon.

Memorials may be made to Show Hope (movement care for orphans) or the Second Baptist Church in Bowling Green.
