Funeral services for Glenn Howard Alexander, 75, of Louisiana, were held at 2 p.m., Saturda at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Skip Merkel officiated.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Alexander died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at his home in Louisiana.
He was born June 8, 1935 at Rockport, Ill., to Glenn Edward and Edna Willene Calhoun Crowder. His father died when he was three years old and his mother was later married to Harold Clarence Alexander who adopted him. He married Wendy Sue Windmiller, April 29, 1972 in Louisiana. She survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Carl Alexander and wife, Diane of St. Peters, Michael Alexander and Mark Alexander, both of Louisiana; two daughters, Robin Howland and husband, Jim of Louisiana and Nicki McCulley and boyfriend, John Starman of Louisiana; three sons by a previous marriage, Rule Alexander, Todd Alexander and David Alexander, all of Louisiana; 10 grandchildren, Steven McCulley, Zachary McCulley, James Howland, Meagan Howland and Scott Howland, all of Louisiana, Rodney Howland and wife, Kayla of North Carolina, Tori Alexander, Samantha Alexander and Hanna Alexander, all of St. Peters and Michael Alexander, Jr. of Louisiana and 6 great-grandchildren, Grace Howland, Lillian Pitzer and Steven McCulley, Jr., all of Louisiana, Ian Howland of Bowling Green, Hayden Howland of Bowling Green and Aleighana Howland of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Harold Clarence Alexander and his mother, Edna Willene Calhoun Alexander.
He attended the Louisiana High School. He had been self employed as a carpenter and drywall hanger most of his life.
Howard was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army from 1957-63.
He was a member of American Legion Post 370 in Louisiana.
Howard enjoyed spending time with his family, attending high school football games and spending time outdoors especially mushroom hunting.
